Patricia Barney Obituary

Patricia Ann Flint-Barney was born to Fred Flint and Margaret Green-Flint of Jacksboro, TX on Friday, May 24th, 1940.
She graduated from the Lennie Shelton high school located in Jacksboro in 1957 and she completed a few semesters of college in Texas. She decided to follow some of her other siblings and moved herself and growing family to Rochester, New York in 1963.  She was an active member of the Black Panther Organization, whose goals were to empower the community through social and economic reform.  She was passionate about fairness and equality, hard work and responsibility. She also had a passion for music and she could sing! In the mid 60’s she begin traveling as lead back up singer for the famous jazz/blues instrumentalist, Chuck Mangione, he played a flugelhorn.  She traveled all over the northern states and even up to Canada.  She gave up her singing career to raise, as a single parent, her seven children.
She returned to Texas in 1972 and became a foster parent for a number of years before she re-entered the workforce.  She worked as a case worker for Edgemead of Texas, a group home for troubled youth from 1983 through 1988.  She had a heartfelt calling to make sure all children she came in contact with had known love in their lives. Her next job found her as a case manager for CCA - Correctional Corporation of America.  This was a pre-release facility and she worked there until 1993, when she retired from the workforce.
She relocated to Wichita Falls to be near family and friends.  She was known as “MeeMee” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and a slew of people who came to know and love her and was known as Nanie Pat to her nieces and nephews.
Pat Barney loved to cook for her family every time she could get them together and she LOVED the Lord and she would want you to know him as your personal Lord and Saviour.
Pat was preceded in death by her brothers; Earl Washington and Clarence Teague, her sister Martha Perry, her son Darryl Flint, her grandson Ervin Flint Jr., and her granddaughter Tosse’ Perry-Minor.
