Versa Norris Fleeks Tipps was born on April 4th, 1931 in Kanawha, Texas to the late Fannie Braxton Norris and Robert Norris. She departed this life on May 21st, 2024 as the sun was setting (8:50 PM) surrounded by her loving family.
Versa attended schools in Red River County through the ninth grade. She worked as a care giver/nurse’s aide for many years. Having this job earned her the title “Granny” to people of all races due to her loving natural kindness and occasional bluntness when necessary.
She was married to the late Bill Fleeks at a young age, to this union six children were born. 
Later in life she married the late Breffers “Bones” Tipps, their union included his son, the late Edward Fields.
Versa was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Emma Lee Gray, her brothers; Prentis, Willie and Joe Lewis “J.L.” Norris. Sons; Elmer Troy, Kenneth Ray Fleeks and Edward Fields. Daughters; Shirley “Fleeks” Roberson-Slaughter and Carolyn Fleeks Brown.
Big Mama leaves to cherish her beautiful memories and amazing life: her son, Robert L. Fleeks and daughter, Linda Bumpus Fleeks. Bonus daughters; Terri Baker (Lonnie), Sophie Owens, Terri Ricks (Cherry), Gloria Knott, Diane Wesley and Starla Byars. Sixteen Grandchildren, Forty Nine Great Grandchildren, Forty Seven Great Great Grandchildren. Nephews; Hershel Norris (Debbie) and Jerry Don Norris (Johnnie Mae). Nieces; Opal Norris and Angela Landry Rawls (Lawrence). Also a host of great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
