Richard “Pop” Leo Stevens, 86, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Bryson. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Portwood Pavillion in Seymour, TX.
Richard was born April 20, 1936, in Truce, TX to William and Mary (King) Stevens. He attended school in Jacksboro and married Billie Jo Wright on November 8, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2001. Richard was a master of many trades including helicopter mechanic and carpenter. He was employed by Robb Stewart, farming and ranching, for nearly 25 years. The Stewart family became a second family, and he was blessed by their friendship. Ever-present was his unconditional love and support for family, friends and those in need. Richard was an avid collector of “things” and had a passion for garage sales and a good deal. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, Richard loved living life with his girlfriend of 5 years, Gay Robinson. Together they shared many adventures and made treasured memories along the way. She was selflessly devoted to his care during cancer treatments and hospice. They remained side by side until his
passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Ernest & Vernon, sister Addie Walton, daughter Phyllis and sons Freddy & Monty.
Richard is survived by Girlfriend Gay Robinson; Sons Bear (Becky) Stevens & Randy (Kendra) Thorn; Grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Zachary, Heather, James, Nathaniel, Mary, Casey, Leah, Ben, Amanda, Amber, Seth & Kris; Numerous Great-grandchildren; Nieces Tammy Moore, Mary
