Pastor Gloria Jordan Obituary

Gloria Equila Farmer Jordan was born December 15, 1951, in Halifax, Virginia. She entered her eternal rest on November 21, 2021, at her home in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Benjamin Farmer, Sr, and the late Sister Sue Esther Edmonds Farmer.

Pastor Jordan was educated in the Halifax County Public Schools. She continued her education at William & Mary College in Williamsburg, VA. Gloria later enrolled in Aenon Bible College in PAW Indianapolis, IN and Wayland Baptist University in Wichita Falls, TX.

Gloria was employed by Craddock & Terry Shoe Factory and Burlington Industries both in Halifax, VA, and Wabash Magnetics in South Boston, VA. Upon relocating to Hampton, VA, Gloria worked at the Graham & Rollins Crab processing plant and Howmet Aerospace both located in Hampton, VA.

Pastor Gloria Jordan was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age at Christ Temple Blue Rock Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Elder Earl Edmonds. She served faithfully at her home church as well as the Western District Jubilee and the Unity Meeting which later changed to the Young People State Convention. Upon relocating to Hampton, VA she joined Church of Jesus under the leadership of the late Dr. Merlin L. Ford. Pastor Jordan continued to serve faithfully while at Church of Jesus where she started a nursing home ministry. Gloria attended and served faithfully at the Virginia State Council where she organized the Alter Worker Team and the Evangelistic Team (street services).

In 1979, Pastor Gloria Jordan moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where she joined Faith Temple under the leadership of the late Pastor Gladys Neece. While a member of Faith Temple Gloria served faithfully doing whatever God led her. In 1981, God inspired Elder Glossy B. Jordan (husband) to start the First Pentecostal Church. She served faithfully and assisted her husband in any capacity she could. Gloria served as President of the Missionary Department and Sunday School Teacher. Pastor Jordan started a Unity Meeting with churches in Wichita Falls, TX, Lawton, OK, and Oklahoma City, OK. In 1983, she finally accepted God’s call to minister His word. She was installed as Pastor of First Pentecostal after the death of Elder Glossy B. Jordan in 2015.

Gloria is survived by one daughter: Gloria Ann Jordan; one stepson: Kenneth Ray Jordan; two brothers: Benjamin Farmer, Jr. (Doris) and Joseph Carson Farmer (Sarah); six sisters: Zelma Iretha Hood (James deceased), Essie White, Joan Farmer, Delois Wilkins (Bernard), Lillian Johnson and Brenda Farmer; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Glossy B. Jordan; one brother: Edward Farmer (Carolyn) and one sister: Minerva Sue Caddle.
