Leon Newsome was born on August 19, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Richard Charles Newsome Sr. and Pearlee Harris Newsome.
He attended Eastside Jr. High School, Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from Hirschi High School, Class of 1970.
He married the love of his life, Connie on December 16, 1971 and they shared over 53 years of marriage together.
Leon was a member of Eastside Faith Center of Wichita Falls, Texas under the pastorate of Carl Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Brooks, II., his parents, Richard Charles Newsome Sr. and Pearlee  Harris Newsome, his brother, R.C. Newsome, Jr. and his sister, Stella Newsome.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Connie Newsome, his daughters, Annecia Newsome of Wichita Falls, TX. and Breonna Crumbley of Atlanta, Georgia. His sons, Beyoun Maurice Criner of Lawton, OK. and Trevor Carouth of Wichita Falls, TX. Two grandchildren, Xavier Herbert of Atlanta, GA. and Charity Baldwin (Jamal). Three great grandchildren; Christian, Ja’Myah and Armani. Two brothers, Brother Odell Newsome (Clemmie) of Tyler, TX. and Frankie Newsome of Waxahachie, TX. Two Sisters, Barbara Johnson (Maurice) of Wichita Falls, TX. and Brenda Thomas of Wichita Falls, TX. Sister in Law, Tricia Penn (Thomas), Two Brother in Laws, Stanley “Solo” Johnson of Wichita Falls, TX. and James Wendell Young of Watauga, TX. His Son in Law, Alvin Brooks, II. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates and friends.
