Leon Crawford, Sr. Obituary

Leon Charles Crawford, Sr. “LC Crawford” was born on October 6, 1935 in Wichita Falls, Texas to J.C. Crawford and Ola Mae Holland-Crawford.
He attended and graduated from the Historic Booker T. Washington High School. He furthered his education by attending and graduating from the Bethania Hospital School of  X-Ray Technology, becoming the first African American to do so in that era. While in school he was awarded the Wichita County Medical Society first prize for submitting the best of competing student papers. His winning paper was entitled “The Three C’s” which dealt with the elements necessary to prevent disease, i.e., Cleanliness, Cautiousness and Carefulness.
With dedication and persistence he became the first African American  Director of Radiology at Bethania Hospital. Later on he taught classes on Radiology at Midwestern State University.
He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
L.C. married his sweetheart Everline Anderson on April 19, 1952 in Wichita Falls, TX. This union was blessed with five children; Barbara, Patricia, Ruthie, Leon, Jr., and Rhonda.
He was a member of Nelson # 40 Masonic Lodge and Aleppo Temple # 92 Shriners for many years giving of his time and service to the Wichita Falls community.
He was a beloved and respected father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.  L.C. had a larger than life personality and loved to joke around and make people laugh.
On April 14, 2023, he answered the Master’s Call and peacefully transitioned to eternity.
L.C. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Everline Crawford, his parents; J.C. Crawford and Ola Mae Holland-Crawford, five brothers and two sisters and two grandsons; Darren Banks, Sr. and Gregory Lovett, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories, his children; Barbara Crawford, Patricia Banks, Ruthie Crawford, Leon Crawford, Jr. and Rhonda Lovett. Two Grandchildren, Monica Crawford and Donald Banks, Jr., a host of great grand children,  two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
