Kenny Dean “Blind Lemon” Houston, age 65, of Wichita Falls, Texas, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2026. While his passing leaves a void, his life is remembered with love, gratitude, and celebration.
Kenny was born on August 23, 1960, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Helen and Hearod Houston. After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1979, he worked at Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind, where he valued the camaraderie of the staff and his fellow team members. Known affectionately by many as “Blind Lemon,” Kenny brought warmth, laughter, and a unique spirit to those around him. His presence left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hearod Houston; his brother, Tommy “Doc” Houston; and his sister, Ramona Houston.
Kenny is fondly remembered by his loving mother, Helen Houston; his brother, Raymond “Bean” Houston, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; and his son, DreShawn Johnson of Denison, Texas. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends who will continue to celebrate his life and memory.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Kenny’s spirit, laughter, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life serves as a reminder to cherish each moment and to hold loved ones close.
