Obituary

We were beyond BLESSED with his life span of 71 years from May 31,1952 to July 23, 2023.
On a blind date, John met Sharon (Robertson) Bata on July 17,1970 and were married July 24,1971. They always celebrated both dates as John said 17th and Sharon said 24th was their anniversary. This year they celebrated 53 years together, whichever day you choose. John worked at Washex for 18 ½ years working his way up to Facilities Manager. On his favorite work trip Washex sent him and Sharon to Nashville for a Corporate Meeting and Dinner at the Grand Ole Opry. John was also sent to Chicago and New York as well as Midwestern University for schooling. John also worked at Magic Aire as the Maintenance Supervisor and Environmental Health and Safety Director. At Wichita Falls Refurbishment he was the Maintenance Group Leader. Pratt & Whitney also hired him as the Maintenance Supervisor as well as the Facilities Engineer. John was licensed in Electrical, Plumbing, Computers and Welding. His work meant so much to him and we are so proud of all that he accomplished over the years. John always saw that the United States and Texas flags were in good shape and PROUDLY flying at every company he worked at as well as at home. John always had a passion for smoking meat, gardening and spending time with family.
He always had his rock and roll playing all hours of the day when he wasn’t watching the history channel trying to learn something new. His home-grown peppers and beautiful green grass were his prized possessions, but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife and the amazing life they had built together. He loved her more than anything and showed it every single day. He was a very impressive and amazing man, and he will be greatly and dearly missed by many.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Sharon Bata, his son Joshua Bata and wife Mary as well as his son Paul Bata and wife Jody, his daughter Patience Bata and her fiancé Caleb as well as his daughter Shay Bata. Grandkids include Audree Bata, Hunter Bata, John Bata, Joey Bata, Aaron Bata, Mason Bata and Chloe Bata along with 5 great grandchildren from Paul’s family. His brother Riley Bata, sister Patsy Collier and husband Bucky, his sister Sydney McConnell and his mother-in-law Betty Robertson. The very special people in his life include Greg Howard with over 40 years of friendship, the Michael Vendrick family, Tonya Crawell and many other family and friends that love him greatly.

Our family gives special gratitude and many thanks to Hospice of Wichita Falls for all they have done for us as well as his many other physicians that have taken such great care of him.
