Hilton Mendenhall Obituary
Hilton “Bo” Mendenhall was born on February 21, 1937, in Stamps, Arkansas, to Myra Grantt Mendenhall and George Mendenhall. At an early age, he and his family relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he spent much of his time in church, having confessed his faith at a young age.
Hilton attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he excelled in sports and graduated with the Class of 1956. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army, earning an honorable discharge after years of dedicated service.
After his military career, Hilton lived in Seattle, Washington, before returning to Wichita Falls. He worked for Trailways Bus Services for over 24 years before retiring. Never one to sit idle, Hilton remained active through various jobs and entrepreneurial ventures, owning multiple businesses during his lifetime.
Hilton had a passion for traveling, music, and, most of all, his family. He was deeply involved in his community, where he was known as “Bo” and was admired for his willingness to volunteer and assist wherever he was needed. A hardworking and devoted man, Hilton cherished his time with the love of his life, Iris Louise Flax, his family, and the many reunions that brought them together.
Hilton was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Troy Gildon, and daughter Heather Mendenhall.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with Iris Louise Flax; his sons, Trent Gildon (Yolanda) and Gregory Thursby (Chandra), both of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren; Trenesha Tatum, DeMarcus Tatum, and Marquette Yarbrough, all of Dallas; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, lifelong friends, and his beloved fur companion, King, whose bond he treasured deeply.
Hilton’s remarkable life and generous spirit will be forever remembered by those who loved him.
