Gussie Mae Sillemon Roberson was born on September 17, 1931 in Bryan, Texas to the late John Henry and Bessie Sillemon. She was the second oldest of six children, four of which preceded her in death. Eartha Lee Lewis, Johnnie Mae Mitchell, Grace Lou, Johnson, and John Henry Sillemon Jr. Her surviving sibling Bessie Brown (Aunt Stomp) remained by Gussie Mae’s bedside until God called her home.
Gussie Mae moved with her family to Crowell, Texas in 1936 where she lived until moving to Wichita Falls in 1967. As a child Gussie Mae gave her life to Christ and was a longtime devoted member of Little Brook Church located in Crowell, Texas.
During her time in The Falls she worked as a licensed cosmetologist.
Gussie Mae is survived by; her daughter, Linda Jean Reed and son, WT Williams (Lorraine). She has two grandchildren: Herbert Bennett, Jr. (Rosalyn) and Christi Vaughn (Ronnie), eight great-grandchildren: Jerel Bennett (Valiza), Jolonda Sillemon, Jazzni Bennett, Prentice Bennett, Taylor Polk (preceded in death), Jamel Bennett, London Bennett (Jaton), Ganessa Bennett-Fields (Lachoy) and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Her spirit of family also lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
