Evra L. Tarver, 90, of Wichita Falls, Texas was embraced by the Holy arms of the Heavenly Father on December 24, 2023, in Wichita Kansas.
Evra, affectionately known as Mrs. Eva was born on May 8, 1933, in Alto Texas to Willie and Eve Jones. She grew up in Alto Texas, where she attended public schools until Family relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and went on to attend Nurse Assistant Academy successfully completing her Nurse Assistant certificate and proceeded on to receive her Certified Nurse Aide Certificate in 1977. She was a Private Home Caretaker until retirement in 2010. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist church in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Evra married PC Henry as the family flourished with Alice, San, Chris, Jeff, and Judy. Evra moved to Wichita Kansas pursuing better opportunities for her growing family. In Wichita Kansas she worked at the Wichita Rolling Hills Country Club as a chef assistant as well as a waitress and as a Private Home Caretaker in the Rolling Hills Country club neighborhood. Evra was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist church in Wichita Kansas where she met Leon Tarver whom she would later marry. She served in Deaconess, Minister's Wife, and Motherboard auxiliary, in Mission auxiliary, on Kitchen Committee, on Bus Ministry, and in Choir.
Evra returned to Wichita Falls Texas in 1986, upon returning to Wichita Falls Texas she rejoined Pilgrim Rest Baptist church. She served as a faithful and dedicated member in the Lovely Working Circle Mission Group, Sanctuary Choir, and a member of the Food Service Committee. She was faithful until her health prevented her from doing so.
Evra was an entrepreneur, selling church hats and accessories - better known as: “Eva’s Hats”. She was a hard worker and a great provider for her family. She loved God with her whole heart serving her fellow man willingly and without reservation.
Evra was preceded in death by her parents, her children Julia Jones, Chris Jones, and Alice Henry, grandson Lamont Jones, sister Laura Bellamy, and nephew Willie Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories daughter Cassandra (Ken) Evans of Grand Prairie TX; son Jeffery Jones of Wichita Falls, TX; Grandchildren she raised daughters Tracy (Maury) Shaw of Wichita KS, KaSaundra Jones of Wichita Falls TX, Evie Jones of Wichita KS, son Tony (Ardran) Jones of DeSoto TX, Grandchildren Renee (Odell) Bell, Chris Jones Jr, Andre Jones, LaCree Jones all of Wichita KS, LaTonya Coble of Tyler TX, CreJeff Jones of San Antonio TX, Great Grandchildren Frederica Reece, Rashad Reece, Patrick Williams, LaToya Reece, Sierra Shaw, Ayshia Shaw, Krystal Mack, Joshua Mack, Kyndall Henry, Jeffrey Lee, Zy’Meriah Jones-Collins, Great God grandson LaKevion Martin, and bonus granddaughter Taniva Richardson, 33 more great grandchildren, and 41 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
