Ms. Christine "Chris" Hicks, 84, of Wichita Falls, Texas, departed this life on March 22, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1940, in Paris, Texas, to the late George Riley and Velasco Agers. She attended public school in Detroit, Texas before moving to Wichita Falls, Texas in 1955. She spent over 30 years working for the Wichita Falls Independent School District and the Children's Aid Society before retiring. Christine was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Ms. Christine was known for her love of cooking, especially her homemade biscuits and chocolate pies. She had a straightforward and truthful nature and never forgot her roots, often saying, "I came from the country. I can make a meal out of anything." She enjoyed fashion and believed in looking presentable at all times. She had a love for colorful flowers and loved shopping for bright-colored items. In retirement, she indulged in being an at-home "CNN news reporter" during the week and a recliner DJ on the weekend as she found unspeakable joy in listening to music. Christine was a beloved mother survived by her daughters: Peggy Byrd (Kenneth), LaWonda Hicks (Danny), Kathy Hicks, Jackie Flores (Raul Sr.), and Tonya Hicks. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dyeann Hicks-Rayford (Anthony Eugene), granddaughters: Ryleigh Christine Hicks, Ashley Hicks and Jovita Flores, siblings: Eugene, Alvin, Vernon, Catherine, Maxine and Ilene. Christine was also a cherished grandmother to several generations of grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
