Anthony Eugene Rayford is the son of James and Joyce Rayford. He is survived by his wife DyeAnn Hicks-Rayford; three children - Jerron Hicks (married to Roshandra Hicks), Lewis Rayford (married to Lawana Rayford), Stephon Rayford, and a beloved nephew in which he called his own, Chris Burris; leaving 9 grandchildren and plenty of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family. He also leaves to cherish his memory, six siblings - Rebecca Hill, Renee Bailey, Marilyn Davis, Hollis Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Travis McFail; and he is being reunited with his younger brother, Frank Rayford. In addition to an abundance of siblings, he also leaves his “God-sister” Rose Marion Murphy Gray.
“Gene” was born on May 2, 1959 in Bonham, Tx. In 1981, he moved to Wichita Falls, Tx, where he would later meet his wife of 37 years, DyeAnn Hicks. He worked for both the City of Wichita Falls and
the Texas Department of Transportation for over 20 years. Considered to be a jack of all trades, Gene was well-known throughout the community for his work as a carpenter, a mechanic, and a plumber.
However, he is best known for his “skills on the grill”, playing pool, and embarrassing his opponents in a game of dominoes. Gene never met a soul that did not like him; his aura would cause people to
gravitate towards him, and he would lighten any room. Gene has touched the hearts of many throughout his 61 years of being a blessing here on Earth, and he will continue to do so in Heaven.
