Annie Pearl (Howard) Smith Obituary

Mother Annie Pearl Smith, a devoted servant of God and cherished matriarch, peacefully transitioned from this life on April 22, 2026.

Born on March 10, 1940, to the late Jesse and Goldie Howard in Snook, Texas, Mother Smith was raised with strong values, deep faith, and a heart full of love that she carried throughout her life.

She began her working years as a teacher’s aide at Burkburnett Head Start in the 1960s, where she nurtured and cared for young children with patience and kindness. Later, she devoted herself to being a loving homemaker, pouring into her family and building a strong, faith-filled foundation.

Mother Smith was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Deacon Robert Lee Smith, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and family in Burkburnett, Texas.

She was a faithful and dedicated Mother of the Church, initially serving at Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie King Jr. She later joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her devoted service as a member of the Mission Board under Rev. Eddie Sirmons and remained steadfast during the transition to Rev. C. Edward English.

Mother Smith was known for her quiet strength, nurturing spirit, and unwavering faith. A prayer warrior and guiding light, she was a source of wisdom and comfort to all who knew her. In her free time, she found joy in cooking, baking, and sewing, generously sharing her gifts with love and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Goldie Howard; her children Emma Jean, Priscilla Ann, and Brenda Kay; her siblings Willie Howard, Ruby Jewel Howard, Gene Howard, Laura James, Alberta Allen, and Ethel Jackson; and her grandchildren Jeremy Monroe, April Smith, and Shalonda Hardeman.

Mother Annie Pearl Smith leaves to cherish her loving memory her children Willie Jean Monroe, Curtis Smith (Gail), Wynell Smith (Mary), and Jamar Smith; her cherished grandchildren Quoqueze, Adrienna (Jerome), Neceol, Jarell, Jasmine, Jerry, Kalynn, Jessica, Janelle, and Khannon; along with 31 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and dear friends.

The family extends special thanks to Sheridan Medical and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their compassionate care and support.
