Rev. Leo Daniel Smith was born on December 21, 1938 the seventh of fourteen children God born to the union of Lonnie and Annie Smith. He attended and graduated from Ennis High School and Paul Quinn College School of Theology in Waco, Texas.
He married the love of his life Tiney Palmer on December 26, 1957. Their love spanned over 60 years.
Rev. Smith accepted his call in to the ministry in 1963. He faithfully served as pastor of Florence Chapel of Graham, TX. for seven years.; St. Stephens Chapel of Fort Worth, TX. for four years; Mt. Olive Church of Mineral Wells, TX., for four years and Sherman Chapel of Vernon, TX. God called Pastor Smith to further his ministry and by the will of God the Morning Star Baptist Church was founded in 1981. He served God and the church faithfully until his health began to decline.
He coached Boys Club Football for sixteen years, being a positive role model in many young mens lives.
Rev. Smith was preceded in death by his sons, Leo D. Smith, Jr. and Waymon Smith, his parents., nine siblings. Also his youngest brother; Curtis Smith passed on Nov. 7, 2018.
His life will be forever cherished in the hearts of his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Tiney Smith, his children; Rev. Allen Smith (Camille), Louis Smith, Rev. Perry Smith all of Wichita Falls, Mark Smith (Gloria) of Hobbs, NM., and Adaline (Wesley) of Dallas, TX. Thirty Seven grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, his daughter in laws; Sheila Smith and Cecelia Smith of Wichita Falls. His brother; Lynn Smith of Dallas, TX., two sisters; Louise (Charlie) and Joyce both of Dallas, TX. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
