Jo Ann Wood Attaway was born December 26, 1929 to JH and Bertha Lee Brock Wood in Seminole County, Oklahoma. She passed away on September 15, 2018.
She grew up and attended schools in Vernon, Texas. On June 18, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Jack R. Attaway, who preceded her in death in 2012 after 64 years together. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters Juanita, Maurice, and Charlene.
Jack and Jo Ann resided in Vernon, Quanah and later Granbury, Texas making lifelong friends along the way. Jo Ann was an avid golfer in her younger years and loved to entertain friends and spend time working in her yard. She wasn’t one to sit still for long and was always ready for the next adventure. She dearly loved her children and her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Ma” by her grandchildren and all of their friends growing up. Most people would describe Jo Ann as beautiful. She truly was beautiful, inside and out. Her sense of fun was contagious and will be truly missed.
