Obituary
Thomas Burke aka TBird , son of the late Therman Burke and Henrietta Walker was born June 13, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. He departed this life on January 26, 2018 at University Park Care Center after a courageous battle.
Thomas attended school in Brooklyn, New York and after graduation joined the United States Air Force where he was deployed and served in the Vietnam War.
Thomas was joined in Holy Matrimony with his beloved Rebecca Giles aka Chubys on October 19, 1962. During that union they raised Rebecca’s only child, Marilyn.
During his tour of duty they traveled state wide and abroad. Thomas was honorably discharged and retired in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1976. After retirement he worked in Alaska for many years until he retired a second time.
Upon his second retirement he spent his days relaxing, going to the gym and spending summer vacation time with his great-grand children, which he and his beloved Chubys looked forward to their visits.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, six grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren (one on the way in July) and three great-great-grandchildren, four nieces, two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Miss Me, but Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set on me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little--but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
miss me--but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
miss me--but let me go.
