O’Keith Montgomery was born on July 17, 1928 in Tatum, Texas. He was the fifth child of nine children born to the parentage of Harold Sr. and Alice (Humphrey) Montgomery. O’Keith attended Harmony Hill Elementary and attended high school in Marshall, Texas.

O’Keith was drafted and served in the US Airforce and received an Honorable discharge in 1951. He was employed with Sheppard Air Force Base for over 25 years and retired in 2008. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He pastored Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Oklaunion, Texas for over 20 years until his health began to decline. He served as chaplain for Disabled American Veterans for several years. He was also a member of the Preacher’s Breakfast McDonald Club where he enjoyed eating and fellowshipping every morning.

O’Keith entered into eternal rest at the age of 89 on Thursday, November 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Montgomery; granddaughter, Jasmina Marie Montgomery, sister, Lurlene Montgomery, and brothers: Harold Montgomery, Jr., NeKenith “Shorty” Montgomery, Clifton Montgomery and Clyde Montgomery.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are: son. Tony (Sherry) Brackens, Sr., daughter, Rhonda (Sam) Ogunoye, granddaughter, Shetonia (Christopher) Scires, grandsons, Tony, Jr. (Candace) Brackens, Charkeith (Felicia) Brackens, sisters: Edwina Watkins and Glover Brown, brother, Billy (Jewel) Montgomery, loyal friend, Loretta Gray, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
