Carolyn I. “Kay” Brunner, was born June 30, 1934 in Syracuse, New York to William and Lettie Wilkenson. She passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on December 28, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Allendale Baptist Church, 4650 Allendale Rd.
At the age of 20, Carolyn began a career in nursing and loved working with infants. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and water skiing. In September of 1957 she married Gary LaGrange. Soon after, she retired from nursing to dedicate her life to starting a family.  Together they had three children: David, Lisa, and Cheryl, all of whom were born in Syracuse, New York. They moved to Florida in 1962 and then to Dallas, Texas in 1966. Carolyn later remarried in 1970 in Dallas, Texas to Edwin “Buck” Brunner, who had a son, Edwin II “Lucky.” In 1979, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Lord blessed her with seven grandchildren: Nicole, Marisa, Jonathon, Carol Ann, Cristopher, Patrick, and Emily, and two great grandchildren: Brantley and Adelie, with one more on the way. She played a significant role in all of their upbringing and cherished every minute spent with them. She had strong family values, was a firm believer in the Lord, an avid gardener, a hard worker, and very artistic, especially in painting, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to play games, cook for family and friends, and made everyone feel at home. She is best described as a selfless person who always had a warm smile and kind words.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Buck, and survived by her children David Brunner and wife Kay, Lisa Oldham and husband Kevin, Cheryl Holub and husband Stephen, and Lucky Brunner and wife Doris; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her siblings Virginia Porter, Billy Wilkenson, and Susan Wilkenson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Carolyn’s honor be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd. Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
